The book of Ephesians was written to the healthiest church in the New Testament era. It wasn't diving back into legalism, it wasn't getting drunk on communion wine, it wasn't running back to Judaism at the first hint of persecution. The Ephesian church was alive, in revival, standing strong in a very negative culture and was simply changing the world. In learning how to function as a healthy church in society, we could not have a better text book than Ephesians.
1. INTRODUCTION TO THE EPHESIAN CHURCH
In this message we find out from the Word of God how the church got so alive and what was the secret of the success of the Ephesian church. Grasping this will provide a great foundation for studying the book itself, and help you grasp what church should and can be like.
2. GoD's PLAn FOR MAN (or the best sentence in time and space)
Before you were born, before your grandparents were born, God had a plan for you. It's more magnificient, more wondrous, and more exciting than you can ever hope to dream. It's truly outrageous. And God has revealed the plan to man through His Spirit and His Word. As Ben talks through Epheisans 1.1-14 find out God's desire for your life, who you truly are and how blessed you actually are. This is life changing stuff - it truly opens your heart to a new level of believing and loving God.
3. PRAYing properly
Knowing God's life changing plan and how meticulous it was, and how rich God's grace was, did not lead Paul to say "hey, what's the point praying then" - it led him to pray without ceasing for the Ephesian church. In this message, we find out what that means - and it's not what you might think, we find out how to effectively, Biblically, properly pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Most life changing truth from such a powerful book of the Bible!
4. GOD's MERCY
Paul has to now remind the Ephesian church not to fall into religious pride but to remember that all of our life, our blessings and our redemption all come from God's great mercy. Find out about what mercy is - and immunise yourself from the deadly effects of religious pride today. This message also explains why the salvation plan is necessary and why Christianity is the only solution to the human condition.
